In 2008 Green Oil Hellas decided to implement a major upgrading in order to modernize its existing Used Oil re-refining Plant, including ISBL and partly OSBL facilities. The project included a state of the art high pressure Hydrotreater for the production of Group II+ Base Oil Unit, based on GIT innovative technology. GIT did the design and full engineering of the revamping, the equipment procurement and the construction. The Hydrotreating Unit is including the innovative separation system of GIT for hydrogen saving, the GIT dry stripping process and also an Amine Absorption Unit. It started operation in 2010 and was the first success story of GIT in the Used Oil re-refining. The produced Base Oils meet Group II+ or Group III specifications.
