Advanced Licensing and Engineering Solutions for Waste Lube Oil Recycling
At GIT we specialize in the licensing, design, and implementation of cutting-edge waste lube oil rerefining units. Our expertise lies in providing state-of-the-art solutions that transform used oil into high-quality base oils, utilizing advanced technologies such as Solvent Treating Units and High-Pressure Hydrotreaters.
Our signature innovation is the Deep High-Pressure Hydrotreater Process, specifically engineered for processing distillates derived from waste oil. This proprietary technology enables the production of premium Group II and Group III base oils, setting a benchmark in the industry for sustainability and quality.
Our team’s extensive experience, allows us to provide tailor made solutions according to customers’ needs. Our innovative technologies ensure high performance covering the fields of:
- Base Oil Recovery from Used Oil.
At first the removal of water, glycols and hydrocarbons lighter than Base Oils is taking place in a series of atmospheric and vacuum flashing. Then recovery of Base Oil fractions by high vacuum TFE and molecular distillation. Our technology ensures high yield, minimizing of energy consumption, environmentally friendly and production of Base Oil distillates suitable for our subsequent finishing procedures of Hydrotreatment for production of Group II+ or Group I base oils depending on the customer’s needs.
- Hydrotreating.
As a final finishing step in the production of Base Oils, GIT has its innovative, state of the art Hydrogenation technology, suitable for both, Used Oils re-refining and virgin Base Oil from Crude Oil. Our version for the Used Oils is specifically engineered for Base Oil Distillates from Used Oils. It can be designed in two versions:
-High Pressure deep hydrotreating for the production of Group II+ Base Oils.
-Medium Pressure for the production of Group I Base Oils.
In both versions there is high degree heat recovery, which makes it possible to recover the biggest part of the heat consumption, thus minimizing the fuel consumption and contributing to environment protection.
Also, the unique separation system, with three separators instead of the usual two, ensures higher hydrogen purity and lower hydrogen consumption.
An amine absorption unit is included for the absorption of the hydrogen sulfide by-product, instead of the usual method of caustic wash, which produces toxic liquid waste. This technology also serves in hydrogen saving and environment protection.
Finally we have the special “compact” design for very small units, which makes the hydrotreatment unit economically feasible for capacities as low as 1500 Metric Tons yearly.
- Solvent Extraction .
For applications where the requirements in color and sulfur content of Base Oils are not so strict, GIT has its own proprietary technology of Solvent Extraction of the Base Oil Distillates (instead of the hydrotreatment). Solvent Extraction Produces very good quality of Group I Base Oils with substantially lower CAPEX comparing to hydrotreating.
- Residue Propane Extraction .
Frequently in Used Oils, there are heavy fractions with very high boiling points, which are not possible to be recovered even by the high vacuum distillation. GIT has its technology for extraction of the residue of the vacuum distillation with liquid propane as solvent. The product of this unit is a Deasphalted Oil (DAO), which after hydrotreating will give high viscosity Base Oil (Bright Stock). The yield of Bright Stock can be as high as 60% on the vacuum residue, thus increasing the total Base Oils yield and improving the economics of the re-refinery.
